About this place
For a meal centred on soup, Shinhonen’s lunch menu includes haejangguk set meals, sundae gukbap, oxtail soup and yukgaejang. One group visiting at lunchtime ordered a set meal with sundae, offal and perilla leaves in the soup, as well as haejangguk with thinly sliced beef tendon, vegetables and glass noodles. They found the sundae set meal strongly flavoured with offal, while the haejangguk suited both diners better.
Bossam and seafood pancakes are options to share. One diner recalled that the bossam set came with salad and was so generous that even 3 people could not finish it. The seafood pancake was also reported to be large, so it may be worth considering your group’s appetite when ordering. Another visitor said they took their leftovers home.
Bibimbap and various jjigae stews are also available as individual meals. A diner who paired stone-pot bibimbap with kimchi and namul described it as satisfying. There is also a report of a visitor choosing a non-spicy dish. The menu offers a range of soups, set meals and à la carte dishes to choose from.
Lunch and dinner menus are available. The restaurant is closed on Thursdays and, according to the listed hours, opens from 11:00 until 2:00 the following morning on other days. It is listed as cash-only, so it is worth checking payment arrangements in advance.
